ciklo is the first pen designed, sourced, and manufactured in Quebec from recycled plastic and is itself recyclable. Its local production reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 99% compared to a pen made in Asia.
The pen's casing is made from post-consumer recycled polypropylene (PP). This reduces the environmental impact of the raw material by 40% compared to a pen made from recycled plastic bottles (PET). The redesigned construction reduces the number of parts from eight to four thanks to its single-material composition and cap, further enhancing its recyclability. The Schmidt gel ink cartridge offers 1.5 times more writing than traditional pens. The ciklo pen was produced by nine local businesses, including two social enterprises, a cooperative, a women-owned business, a family business, and a certified B Corp.
